Ohio Department of Taxation has announced the opening of their Tax Amnesty program. If you have unreported, underreported, or unpaid individual or business taxes due to the State of Ohio, you can apply for amnesty yourself or with the help of a tax preparer. Unreported means that you did not file Ohio income tax forms and Ohio school district income tax forms for a prior year, as examples.
If you have not been contacted by the Ohio Department of Taxation, this is your chance to self-report and avoid all penalties and half of your interest due.
Ohio Tax Amnesty applies to the following tax types and more:
- Ohio Individual Income Tax
- Ohio School District Income Tax
- Ohio Use Tax
- Alcoholic Beverage Taxes
- Cigarette or Other Tobacco Products Tax
- Commercial Activity Tax (CAT)
- Employer Withholding Tax
- Employer Withholding School District Income Tax
- Financial Institutions Tax
- Pass-Through Entity Tax
- Sales Tax
Visit the official Ohio Tax Amnesty website for instructions and the forms you will need to apply. Applications for the Ohio Tax Amnesty program will be accepted between January 1, 2018 through February 15, 2018. This is a great opportunity to settle any unpaid Ohio income tax.
