To check the status of your D-40 and D-40EZ income tax refund online, visit the District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue website and use their Refund Status Inquiry service. District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue states that timely filed error-free income tax returns take about 2 to 3 weeks for processing and issuance of a refund check. Filing your income tax return on paper may cause additional delays especially during peak filing periods. To retrieve the status of your DC income tax refund for 2016 you will need the following information:
- Social Security Number
- Requested Refund Amount
The requested information must match what was submitted on your D-40 and D-40EZ state income tax forms for the current year. The District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue refund lookup service can only be used to query the current income tax year 2016.
