To check the status of your K-40 income tax refund online, visit the Kansas Department of Revenue website and use their Refund Status service. Kansas Department of Revenue states that the normal processing time for a paper return is 16 weeks. To retrieve the status of your KS income tax refund for 2017 you will need the following information:

  • Social Security Number
  • Spouse's Social Security Number
  • Amount of refund requested

The requested information must match what was submitted on your K-40 state income tax forms for the current year 2017. The Kansas Department of Revenue refund lookup service can not be used to query prior year tax returns or amended returns.
