Form 8822 – Change Of Address

Tax Form 8822 is used to notify the IRS that you have changed your address. For most taxpayers, you do not have to notify the IRS if you move, however, it is good practice to notify the IRS each time you move in case they need to correspond with you by mail. The following are the most common ways that you can change your address with the IRS.
- Correct the address on the mailing label that comes with your income tax filing package.
- Write your new address in the appropriate box on your tax return.
- Mail in Form 8822 Change of Address at any time during the year.
Remember that if you don’t file Form 8822 Change of Address during the year, it’s possible that your income tax forms and publications will not arrive at your new address come January.
