Idaho Income Tax Rate 2016 - 2017

Idaho state income tax rate table for the 2016 - 2017 filing season has seven income tax brackets with ID tax rates of 1.6%, 3.6%, 4.1%, 5.1%, 6.1%, 7.1% and 7.4% for Single, Married Filing Jointly, Married Filing Separately, and Head of Household statuses. The Idaho tax rate is unchanged from last year, however, the income tax brackets increased due to the annual inflation adjustment. Idaho income tax rate and tax brackets shown in the table below are based on income earned between January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016.

Idaho Tax Brackets 2016 - 2017

Looking at the tax rate and tax brackets shown in the tables above for Idaho, we can see that Idaho collects individual income taxes differently for Single versus Married filing statuses, for example. We can also see the progressive nature of Idaho state income tax rates from the lowest ID tax rate bracket of 1.6% to the highest ID tax rate bracket of 7.4%.

For single taxpayers living and working in the state of Idaho:

  • Tax rate of 1.6% on the first $1,453 of taxable income.
  • Tax rate of 3.6% on taxable income between $1,454 and $2,907.
  • Tax rate of 4.1% on taxable income between $2,908 and $4,361.
  • Tax rate of 5.1% on taxable income between $4,362 and $5,815.
  • Tax rate of 6.1% on taxable income between $5,816 and $7,269.
  • Tax rate of 7.1% on taxable income between $7,270 and $10,904.
  • Tax rate of 7.4% on taxable income over $10,904.

For married taxpayers living and working in the state of Idaho:

  • Tax rate of 1.6% on the first $2,907 of taxable income.
  • Tax rate of 3.6% on taxable income between $2,908 and $5,815.
  • Tax rate of 4.1% on taxable income between $5,816 and $8,723.
  • Tax rate of 5.1% on taxable income between $8,724 and $11,631.
  • Tax rate of 6.1% on taxable income between $11,632 and $14,539.
  • Tax rate of 7.1% on taxable income between $14,540 and $21,809.
  • Tax rate of 7.4% on taxable income over $21,809.

For the Single, Married Filing Jointly, Married Filing Separately, and Head of Household filing statuses, the ID tax rates and the number of tax brackets remain the same. Notice, however, the Idaho income tax brackets for Married Filing Jointly increase from $1,454 to $2,908 (double) at 3.6%, and increase from $10,905 to $21,810 (double) at 7.4% the highest tax bracket. Married Filing Separately income tax brackets are one half that of the Married Filing Jointly income tax brackets in the state of Idaho.
