For most state income tax payers, your printable federal and state income tax forms need to be postmarked by April 18, 2017. You will be paying federal and state income taxes based on the tax year January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016. This year all three companies offer free use of their online income tax preparation software to those who qualify. You can try them out before deciding if you want to pay for their service. State Income Tax Forms and DOR Web Sites
Free printable state income tax forms for 2016 are in PDF file format. The state revenue departments expect your 2016 tax forms to be printed on high quality printers. Today's laser and ink jet printers are generally acceptable. You can print your 2016 state tax forms using Standard mode with the Black and White or Grayscale Printing preferences set. No color printing is generally required, however, we recommend that you read the first few page of any 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ filing instructions book for any updates regarding printing of your state tax forms.
